Pandemic influenza (H1N1) 2009 update
As of 8 November 2009, worldwide 206 countries and overseas territories/communities have reported laboratory confirmed cases of pandemic influenza H1N1 2009, including over 6250 deaths. More details and a breakdown of reported cases by WHO region are also available, along with an updated map of global spread. Read more

 

New papers warn of rising impact of heat and dengue on urban health
We are pleased to publish two reports on climate change and health in urban settings. The first is a study of how rising temperatures will affect vulnerable people in urban environments, with a case study about work ability on hot days in New Delhi, India. (View)
The second is a review of dengue fever, a vector-borne disease spreading due to the warming climate. This includes a case study from Bangkok. (View)

Call for abstracts for 20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion
Submissions are sought for Geneva 2010: Joining forces for Health, Equity and Sustainable Development, covering core health promotion issues, as well as crucial links between promoting health and the environmental, economic, urban, social and cultural changes that challenge people, societies and the planet. Abstracts for workshops, symposia and oral presentations/ posters can be submitted in English, French or Spanish, up to 30 November 2009. Find out more (also Francais, Espanol).
